Dorian has spared the Marina. There was no damage, tides did not go over the slip fingers. We had a few palm fronds down. There were no power interruptions and all slips have power. We did experience some minor electrical issues that are affecting the front gate and some street lights, with electricians due on property Friday repairs should be completed in short order. We were able to provide a safe haven for over 20 vessels from near by exposed locations.
The confused path of the Hurricane did cause great concern at Soverel and for Palm Beach County as a whole, but in the end the controlling meteorological conditions favored us and Dorian stopped over the Bahamas then moved north. We experienced a few hours of Tropical force winds with gusts in the 50-mph range on the coast. Beach erosion appears to be significant.
Our heart goes out to those in the Abacos and Grand Bahama. I know several of our owners and customers have interests in the affected areas and we wish them well. The owner of Slip 127 and the Vessel “IRONWOOD” has directed Captain Mike to purchase and begin taking relief supplies to Freeport as soon as conditions allow. He will be making multiple trips as conditions allow.
If you are local and have non-perishable supplies that you did not use and are willing to donate you can call Captain Mike, Slip 127, at 386-867-1635 or drop supplies off at the Marina Office and we will get them to him.
